Title of article: Gender, sex typing and gender identity.
Relevance of source:
The source is a scholarly article written by a professional. It gives a professional opinion of the definition of gender and differentiates gender from sex.
Credibility of author:
Pentony is a professional pyschotherapist with a wide range of specialty areas. She has her Ph.D and is still working in Houston Texas. She has published at least one other scholarly article.
Stance of the author:
Author believes her definition is the most accurate at the time and that past definitions are somewhat erroneous.
Currency of article:
The article was published in October of 1980 so the definition has probably been updated with more cases of transgendered people. The currency could create problems with the credibility of the article.
Credibility of publication:
The publication is the American Psychologist. It is scholarly and therefore very reliable.
Publisher:
US: American Pyschological Association. The article would have undergone scrutiny and reviewed before publication for any errors or any other problems. They would have to approve of the article so that makes it more credible.
Accuracy of article:
The sources cited at the end of this work are also from scholarly sources therefore have undergone the same scrutiny that this article went through before publication. Also the authors would be professionals and have background in the topics.
Audience:
This article was meant for other professionals and not a general audience. Although, the language used to write the article is easy to understand so some of the more educated readers can interpret the article without having to be a professional on the subject.
Level of specialization:
Although the article is one for professionals, the definition is still somewhat general. It differentiates between sex and gender but does not go into nuances of what gender is. The definition is broad and does not encompass every aspect of what gender is. This generalizability could possibly be due to the age of the article when gender roles were not as much of a problem.

Gender Wonder
Gender issues. I see so many articles on gender roles and issues in today's media that its astounding. In past centuries male and female roles were simply defined and rarely were the boundaries crossed. Why is it in recent times that gender issues have appeared. Though I think the more basic question is what is gender? What is the correct definition of gender?
I know there is a difference between gender and sex. Sex is biologically defined as male and female. Gender is more of the role and mind set that accompanies the sex.
Ive seen so many articles in recent media about transgendered people. Even young children believe they are a boy/girl trapped in the opposites body. This is supposedly a phenomena that occurs because something is genetically altered in the brain. If that is the case, how come there arent any cases from past centuries? What is considered the correct definition in today's world that allows for such discrepancies?

Bud Light!!
Beer adds are found everywhere, in magazines, on bilboards, on television and even on the radio. If add abundance represented importance, beer would be considered a main staple in Americans' lives. Everyone has their own preference to what beer they like, but the adds try to say that "hey this is our beer and it is better than the rest".
These adds target everyone of drinking age-including me. Though Ive noticed that sometimes they are directed more for the working class. The problem is that college kids will take what they can get and it doesnt matter what as long as it will get them drunk. Money is an issue for college students so it is logical that adds be targeted for a slightly older age group.
George Killians Irish Red is my personal preference although for most college kids its either Bud Light or Coors Light. Ive found that Bud Light adds are more entertaining than any other. They cover pretty much anyone you can think of, especially with the Real Men of Genius commercials that have been aired on the radio. These commercials are some of the most entertaining adds to ever cross the airwaves. Some of my favorites are Mr. Really Big Pet Snake Owner, Mr. Male Fur Coat Wearer, and Mr. Tiny Thong Bikini Wearer. These really cover just about anyone you can think of, though when you pick a specific one, it is had to make them generalizable.
Bud Light has also come up with some of the most entertaining television commercials too. I know of a few that have really stuck in my head. Swear Jar is one of the more well known and one thats a bit more controversial is the Beer and Porn commercial. These commercials have stood out in my mind and I found them hilarious.
Though entertaining, the real question is whether or not they get their message across and which method is more effective. For my next English paper, Im going to compare a Real Men of Genius add to the Swear Jar commercial.
